Getting to Escal Plaza

By Car
There is parking for 600 cars, free for all Hakuba Goryu visitors, including dedicated spaces for wheelchair users and others with disabilities. If you’re staying at a mountain hut, please use the long-stay parking area, where you can leave your car for several days.

By Public Transport
You can get here by bus and train, though services are limited. For timetables and detailed route information, please see the page below.

Straight to the Summit by Gondola

An alpine botanical garden spreads out at the summit. Centered around a large restaurant, you can enjoy walking trails and hiking courses.

Hakuba Goryu Alpine Botanical Garden

One of Japan's leading alpine botanical gardens, spreading across Alps-daira at 1,515 m above sea level. From June to October, more than 300 species and 2 million alpine flowers bloom here in this garden of biodiversity.

Trailheads & Trekking Courses

Hakuba Goryu is the trailhead for Mt. Goryu, one of Japan's 100 Famous Mountains. Along the way, there are courses where even beginners can connect with nature and enjoy a mountain walk: the Kotomi Trekking Course (90 minutes one way), the Mikaeri-zaka Trekking Course (20 minutes one way, with great views), and a very easy Alps-daira Nature Trail (30 minute loop).

GORYU MORIMORI ADVENTURE

New in summer 2026! Try new adventures you can only do in these mountains and make unforgettable memories with family and friends!

Buggy Tour
Race through the forest trails that become ski slopes in winter, in a dedicated buggy for an exhilarating ride. At the top of your buggy climb, you can also try the lift swing. Choose from three plans: the Morimori Course, the Trial Course, and the Family Course. Children (age 10 and up) can take the wheel on the Trial Course.

Paintball
On a special course with targets set up in the forest, take on game-like shooting with a guide. You only aim at designated targets, so it’s a worry-free activity even for families with young children. Adults: 40 minutes (50 shots) from ¥2,000. Great for rainy days and for groups too.
