GARDEN
Escal Garden
Step out from the 2nd floor of Escal Plaza towards the Toomi slope and you’ll find Escal Garden waiting for you. It stretches much further up the slope than it first appears — you won’t know just how far until you start exploring. Wander through and you’ll find different flowers planted section by section, each with its own character.
Best of all, it’s open to everyone, completely free — and dogs are more than welcome, so bring your furry friend along for the walk. Or pack a lunch and a picnic blanket and make a proper afternoon of it.
A garden with its own babbling brook
Follow the stream — fed by Hakuba's melting snow — past banks in bloom for a wonderfully cool, refreshing walk. Keep an eye out for fish too! (Come winter, they're released elsewhere while the stream disappears under snow...)
The Bell of Lovers — will you ring in your love?
Climb the flower-lined staircase and you'll reach one of Hakuba Goryu's best-loved spots: the Bell of Happiness. Grab your loved one's hand and give it a ring together.
